Development direction of high-speed backplane connectors

Backplane connector (backplaneconnector) is a type of connector commonly used in large-scale communication equipment, ultra-high-performance servers and supercomputers, industrial computers, and high-end storage devices. The speed of the high-speed backplane connector can reach 112Gb / s, which is a qualitative leap compared to the conventional backplane connectors. TXGA has a large number of high-quality high-speed backplane connectors in stock, which are shipped very quickly without waiting.

A high-speed backplane is a part of a typical electronic system that physically connects between modules. The system handles a large number of high-speed data streams with the help of wires, traces, and connectors on the backplane. Mainly used in the new generation of avionics systems and general synthetic processors, and communication cabinets.

In new digital systems, the rate of data conversion and transmission is often several gigabits. Therefore, circuit designers must consider connectors as part of the entire transmission line, including factors such as impedance, propagation delay, time lag, and crosstalk. The backplane is the core of many components of the interconnect system. The solution to increase the transmission speed of the system to gigabit is the interconnection of cable backplanes. Therefore, the design engineer must consider the backplane connector at the beginning of the design.

In high-speed communication systems, single-ended signals are replaced by differential signals, meaning that the signals are expressed by the voltage difference of a pair of dedicated lines. Therefore, each differential signal requires two different wires, but the noise isolation performance (anti-crosstalk and EMI) is better, and the operating voltage is lower. High-speed backplane connectors have evolved to be fully shielded and operate like symmetric cables in order to better control impedance, reduce crosstalk, and improve the coupling between differential signals. The differential signal pair must reach the transmission destination at the same time, so the length of the conductive line must be designed to minimize the difference in signal pair length and signal lag. A major source of capacitive signal noise generation and reflection in plated-through holes, so surface-mount or through-hole reflow termination can provide better signal integrity.

With the continuous development of communication engineering, the demand for high-speed backplane connectors is also greater. It can be seen that only by continuously improving themselves and increasing investment in research and development can companies better keep up with the pace of the market and adapt to the development of the times.
