Have you ever touched a connector with a cage leaf spring structure? Actually it is not complicated

Among the contacts, one type of structure is a leaf spring, which has the characteristics of low resistance, high reliability, and low cost, and is widely used in jack contacts. The socket that uses the leaf spring as the contact is called the leaf spring socket. The leaf spring is integrally formed by a metal flat plate, the shape is a round cage-like cylindrical body, and includes a circular contact ring at both ends and a grid connecting the two ends. Installed in the inner hole of the circular jack, the circular contact ring makes fixed contact with the inner hole wall of the jack, and the grid bar is in contact with the pin when inserted. Compared with the traditional pin, the cage leaf spring can disperse the contact stress during the insertion and extraction process and the insertion state, reduce the wear of the contact part, and improve the durability of use.

The manufacturing process of cage leaf spring is usually:

(1) The metal plate is divided into fence shape by removing material, and the two ends of the fence are connected by several pieces of fence;

(2) Reshape both ends of the fence or the fence;

(3) Rolled into a round cage-like cylindrical body;

(4) According to product requirements to further enhance its elastic effect, such as bending and shrinking the waist in the middle of the grid (such as "crown spring"); or by twisting one end of a ring around the central axis and twisting the other end into a curve (such as "torsion spring") ”), so that each grid bar shrinks toward the axis in the middle, forming a structure with two large ends and a small middle.
