How to distinguish between FFC connector and FPC connector?

In the field of connectors, FFC connectors and FPC connectors are often confusing. Although both are flexible cable connectors, there are some differences between FFC connectors and FPC connectors. The FFC is a Flexible Flat Cable connector and the FPC is a Flexible Print Circuit. In terms of manufacturing, the way they form lines is different.

FPC is a flexible circuit board with different single-sided and double-sided structures that are processed by FCCL (Flexible Copper Clad) after chemical etching. FFC uses a flat copper foil sandwiched between two upper and lower layers of insulating foil. The finished product is simpler and thicker. Considering the cost of production, companies prefer to use FFC related designs.

FFC connector is a new type of data cable which is made of PET insulation material and very thin tinned flat copper wire. It is pressed by high-tech automatic equipment production line. It has soft, random bending and folding, thin thickness, small size and connection. Simple, easy to disassemble, and easy to solve electromagnetic shielding (EMI).
